The purpose of marriage is to spiritually, emotionally and physically unite a man and a women together, as husband and wife, in a covenantal relationship between themselves and their Creator.

 

Love between a husband and wife is meant to be agapē, philia and eros.

Agapē  |  Philia  |  Eros

The ancient Greeks had different words to describe various forms of love.

Agapē  -  love that is unconditional and self-sacrificing

Philia  -  love between family or friends

Eros  -  love that is romantic and passionate, often with sensual desire
